• Install special washers between the seat thigh support adjuster and the sliding and reclining device—inner and outer (see Figure 1).
NOTE: This is the only authorized repair for this incident (i.e. click noise or side to side movement when turning).

a. Write down all radio station presets.
b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
c. Wait at least 3 minutes after the negative battery cable is disconnected before removing the driver’s seat.

This chapter provides information required for the installation of the Neo iON, it must be read by all users. Thank you for purchasing the Neo iON. Since the Neo iON works in many different vehicles the following steps must be taken to ensure the iON is set up correctly for the vehicle it is being installed in.
Before Installation
To prevent damage to your vehicle and the iON take the following precautions.
1. Turn off the ignition and remove the negative (-) battery cable prior to installation.
NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with an on-board drive or navigation computer, do not disconnect the battery cable. If the battery cable is disconnected, the computer memory may be lost. Under these conditions, use extra caution to avoid causing a short circuit during installation. If your radio has a security code make sure you know the code and how to enter it prior to removing the battery cable. The radio will require this code to operate when the battery terminal is reconnected.
2. Do not install the unit in the following locations:
A. Locations exposed to direct sunlight
B. Locations where hot air flows from the cars heater
First Step (For All Vehicles)
The first and most important step in using the Neo iON is setting the dip-switches on the black box; this makes the iON compatible with the vehicle it is being installed in. The iON will not work if this step is not followed correctly. The dip switches can be found on the side of the black plastic box which connects to the iON. Switches are in the “ON” position when they are switched down. Black box settings for each vehicle can be found on the vehicles installation page. Refer to the index to find the page number within this manual that covers your vehicle.

1. Vehicle Disassembly. (a) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) (1) Protect the fender before starting. (2) Be careful not to touch the positive terminal. (b) Remove the air damper wire terminal from the bottom of the glove box. (Fig. 1-2) (1) Remove the clip securing the air damper wire terminal. (c) Remove the glove box. (Fig. 1-3) (1) Remove two stoppers securing the bottom of the glove box. (d) Remove the glove box inner cover. (Fig. 1-4) (1) Remove seven screws securing the cover. (2) Disconnect one connector. Steps for EC Rearview Mirror installation: 1. Remove Battery Cable. (a) Protect fender before starting. (b) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. (c) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) 2. Vehicle Disassembly. (a) Remove the OE mirror. (1) Disengage the two claws and remove the mirror cover from the mirror base. (Fig. 2-1) (2) Pull the lever in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration and slide the inner rear view mirror assembly upward to remove it. (Fig. 2-1) (b) Using panel removal tool remove overhead console from headliner. (Fig. 2-2) (1) Disconnect any connectors connected to the overhead console. 3. Install T-taps. (a) Locate the disconnected 22-pin overhead console connector. (Fig. 3-1) (b) Peel back or cut approximately one inch of the wire cover. (Fig. 3-2) (c)

Before removing the factory alternator you must complete the wire check as noted.
Wire Check: The original alternator is externally regulated by the computer. The original plug has two wires, one will have 12.6 volts with the key turned on and the other is the regulation wire. You will have to determine what the wires are conncted to do. This process is as follows: With the vehicle in park and the parking break on, start the vehicle. Using a volt meter, test each of the alternator plug wires. The wire that has the highest voltage is the main power for the voltage regulation. Mark or remember which wire is which for item #5 below.

1) Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.
2) Detach the center console shift bezel.

4) Remove left and right I/P center bezels using a non-metal trim stick.
5) Disconnect and remove the CD/DVD player or cubby bin (four phillips screws).
6) Disconnect and remove the radio (four phillips screws).
1) Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.

3) Remove ignition key bezel.
