PREPARATION
Note:
• Left and Right are determined by the riders position as he is facing forward.
• It is noted that these instructions pertain to only R1100 RT and 1150RT
• Retain all fasteners for the body panels, all these fasteners will be reused.
REMOVE DASH PANEL R1150RT
1. Remove the headlight adjuster knob (Phillips Screwdriver.) Figure 1.
2. Remove the retainer nut from the headlight adjuster shaft (19mm Wrench.) Figure 1a.
3. Remove the 8 screws from the top fairing cover (3mm Hex Key Wrench.) Figure 2 and 3.
4. Remove the 6 screws from the dash panel (3mm hex key Wrench.) Remove the dash panel.
5. Remove internal dash
HID BULB INSTALATION
1. Remove the plastic cover on the back of your headlamp by unlocking the clip that is holding it together on the very top.
2. Unplug bulb and remove by pushing clip behind Figure 3.
3. Drill 1” hole with a saw bit into the back cover to thread wires outside to connect to the ballast. Figure 3. so you have a hole such as in Figure 4.
4. Prepare HID bulb for installation, break the clear plastic Cover that protected the bulb with pliers Figure 5.
5. Break the spacer with some pliers as this will be not needed for the installation of the bulb in the base. Figure 6.
6. Pass the bulb through the hole you drilled the back cover and place the grommet in the hole (you can further seal the hole with epoxy, this is being optional) Figure 6a. and 6b.
7. Insert the bulb back in the housing, and place the lock into the housing Figure 7a and Figure 7b
8. Place cover back and snap into place Figure 8.
9. Plug connectors into power outlet, make sure you plug the Positive and negative into the correct slots.
10. Secure ballast in any open spot within the fairing by using double sided sticky tape provided. Make sure all wires and ballast are securely mounted.
