Step 1: Remove the Armrest Tray
Open the top portion of the arm-rest and take out the rubber mat that is inside. It is secured by rubber stubs and will “snap” out when you pull on it. Next, take the T-15 Torx and remove the (4) screws that secure the upper armrest tray to the armrest assembly. Place the screws in a Zip Lock bag or other, secure area. Once you remove the tray, you will see the connectors for the BMW cell phone kit.
Do not touch or damage the cellular connections. You are now ready to move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Modify the Armrest Tray
Take the armrest tray to your work bench or other area and set it aside. Open the package of Aqua-Seal washers and take out one of the washers. The purpose of the washer is to give the installation a more professional and clean look. In addition, it will prevent the DICE cord from being pulled out when using the iPod manually.

The X-ACTO knife is razor sharp and can cause serious injury. Use caution. Take the X-ACTO knife and cut a slit in the washer, down to the center of it. Once you have done this, cut a small chunk out of the center of washer. Cut enough of the rubber to allow the DICE cord to easily fit inside when the washer is compressed.

Test your cutting but placing the DICE cord into the middle of the washer. If you cannot close the washer, then cut more of the rubber away and retest. Once this is completed, set the DICE cord and rubber washer to the side. Pick up the upper armrest tray and look at it from the rear. You will need to drill a hole into the rear portion of the tray, as marked, to accommodate the SMALL END of the washer (15 – 16mm). Once you have drilled the hole, insert the washer to test the fit. If the washer does not fit, then drill around the edges of the hole a little bit at a time; retest the fit of the washer until it fits.
