6-Speed Short Shift Install

1. Open the package and make sure you received all the appropriate parts.
There should be:
• Cast Shifter Arm
• Five (5) small weights
• Two (2) large weights
• One (1) shifter arm pin c/w lock washer
• Six (6) bolts: (2) short, (2) medium and (2) long, lock washers(2)
2. Start by getting all the appropriate tools that you will need:
• Flat-blade screwdriver
• Phillips screwdriver
• 10mm wrench and socket
• 13mm socket
• 14mm wrench/socket
3. With the hood open and all your tools handy, start by removing the battery cover.
4. Using your Phillips screwdriver, loosen the two (2) screws that secure the top of the air box. These are located on the backside of the air box. Once these have been removed you can loosen the lid from the box. With the lid loose, remove the two (2) torx screws that hold the intake tube to the air box lid (not necessary, just a nicety).
5. With the air box lid out of the way, use your 10mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the air box down. One is located in the front and one in the back. With those removed, you can now remove your air box. Hint: You may need to loosen the 10mm nut that holds the air box to the side wall.
6. Now that the air box is removed, you can get to the shifter mechanism. Start by removing the pin clip located on the top of the shifter pin (red arrow). This can be done by using the flat-blade screwdriver to pry under the tab so that the clip will slide out the side.
7. With the main shifter cable loose from the cast piece, you can now remove the 13mm nut at the center of the cast piece (shown in yellow above).
8. Using both hands, grasp the cast piece and rock it back and forth to get it to slide upwards, off the shaft going into the transmission. Note the position of the cast piece as you remove it.
