DICE ipod BMW Z4 Installation

This “how to” guide installs the kit into a Z4 with no CD changer and a standard business cd (no sat nav), ipod location in the central compartment.
 The kit
 Disconnect battery with 10mm socket
Now it’s a bit of a pain, but to get easier access to centre console I removed the boot carpet. Use a large flat head screwdriver to remove the retaining screws on the left and the right hand side of the boot. You need to reach behind the carpet to hold the nut at the back.
In the centre you’ll see the access to the centre console, where the cd changer would be (or is, if installed). Locate 2 loose wires: a 3, and a 6 pin connector. In mine, I eventually found them on the far left hand side of the compartment. Pull the wires out into the boot, and then connect to the DICE interface cable.
Time now to test it, so connect the docking cable to the DICE module then reconnect your battery. Plug in the ipod to the docking cable
Hopefully it works! Follow the instructions in the user manual. Once I was confident it worked, I fed the docking cable through from the cockpit into the boot and then pulled it through the centre compartment and reconnected it to the DICE module
I then just concealed the cable and module in the compartment. Hopefully won’t rattle as I didn’t attach it to anything.
Fiddle with the carpet to get it back. Again, you need to try and hold the nut from behind as you screw – bit annoying…. Enjoy 4GB of tunes as you drive!
