97-04 Dodge dakota 4WD Brembo Viper Brakes Conversion Front Removal/Installation

REMOVAL
1. On the front hubs, remove the cotter pin, nut lock, and spring washer from the stub shaft.
2. Loosen the lug nuts and hub nut while the vehicle is on the ground with the brakes applied.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the hub nut and washer from the stub shaft.
5. Remove the wheel and tire.
6. Remove the disc brake caliper, rotor, dust shield and disengage ABS speed sensor if applicable.
7. Remove the three bolts holding the hub bearing to the knuckle.
8. Remove hub bearing from axle drive shaft and steering knuckle.
9. Disconnect the front brake line on the frame rail. 10. Remove tie-rod end cotter pin and nut.
11. Place a hydraulic jack under the lower control arm and raise to support arm.
12. Remove the cotter pin and upper ball joint castle nut and separate the ball joint from the knuckle.
13. Remove the cotter pin and lower ball joint castle nut and separate the ball joint from the knuckle (same as #12).
14. Remove steering knuckle.
INSTALL
1. Install the new hub bearing to the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts to 123 ft. Lbs. NOTE: When installing hub bearing with ABS brakes, position the speed sensor opening towards the front of the vehicle.
2. Install the knuckle onto the upper and lower ball joints and front drive shaft.
3. Install the upper and lower ball joint nuts. Tighten the upper ball joint nut to 60 ft. Lbs. And the lower ball joint nut to 135 ft. Lbs. then install the cotter pins.
4. Remove the hydraulic jack from the lower control arm.
5. Install tie-rod into steering knuckle arm. Tighten nut to 65 ft. Lbs. Install the cotter pin.
6. Install ABS sensor if applicable.
7. Install axle nut and tighten to 180 ft. lbs.
8. Install new stainless steel brake hose to connection on the frame rail, and secure brake line to control arm with the supplied brake line clips. You may also run the stainless line through the stock bracket.
9. Install new caliper mounting bracket, use supplied ½” spacers between bracket and knuckle mounting bosses. Tighten the 14mm bolts (yellow zinc coated bolts) to 130 ft. Lbs.
10. Install the rotor on the hub and temporarily secure with lug nuts.
