Removal Procedure A. B. Removal of Stock Intake Manifold (figure 1) 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. 2. With tape or a permanent marker, mark the forward edge of the power steering and the air conditioning compressor drive belts (figure 2). This will ensure that the belts will be returned to their original positions and that they will rotate in the same direction. If you reverse the direction of rotation, it may cause the belts to fray. 3. If you don’t have a drive belt tensionometer, make note of each belt’s deflection at a point midway between its pulleys. You will need to approximate this tension during reassembly (see figure 29).
