2003 350Z MIL ‘ON’ DTC P0442 (Evap Small Leak) Stored In Self Diagnosis Results

An Applied Vehicle has a MIL “On” and has one or both of the following DTCs stored in the ECM:
• P0442 EVAP Small Leak
• P0456 EVAP Very Small Leak
ACTIONS:
Confirm this bulletin applies. Perform CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis (repair as needed). ECM Part Number Check to determine if this bulletin applies. ECM Reprogramming (needed if a match is found during ECM Part Number Check).
IMPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Perform CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis:
1. With CONSULT-II ON:
Main Menu: Using CONSULT-II, proceed as follows: START(Nissan)>>ENGINE>> Self-DIAG Results>>F.F. Data>>PRINT. The Freeze Frame data that your printed contains the ECM Part Number (P/N). Attach this printout with the ECM P/N to the Repair Order. See Figure 1 for an example of the CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis printout.
2. Perform "DTC Confirmation". Use CONSULT-II. Be sure to follow the appropriate Electronic Service Manual (ESM) procedure.
• If a leak is found, use the appropriate ESM procedure to repair the vehicle. Then, proceed to ECM Part Number Check on page 3.
• If a leak is not found, proceed to ECM Part Number Check on page 3. ECM Part Number Check:
1. Using the ECM Part Number printout from Step 1 (Figure 1);
• Can you find the vehicle's current ECM P/N in Chart 1, below, in the column Current ECM P/N?
A. If the ECM Part Number printout matches a P/N in Chart 1 in the column Current ECM P/N:
• Perform ECM Reprogramming steps on page 4.
B. If the ECM Part Number printout does not match a P/N in Chart 1 in the column Current ECM P/N:
• ECM Reprogramming is not necessary. Repair is complete.
