Cadillac CTS-V Oil Pan Kit Installation Guide

9:47 PM by onesecond ·
Step 1: Remove the original oil pan from the engine and clean the mating surface. (NOTE: If your engine is an LS2 from a GTO you will need to remove the plug from the block for the standard dipstick, this is located behind the starter. This is accomplished using a punch to push the plug through the hole from the outside, make sure you do this before you install the new oil pan so that the plug does not get pushed into the engine.)
Step 2: Remove oil pump pickup tube and Windage tray, make sure the original oil pump pickup tube o-ring is removed. Install the new Windage tray and fasteners placing a drop of blue Loctite on the threads. Torque the fasteners to 106 in/lbs. Install the new pickup tube (and girdle if you ordered on with your oil pan), make sure that the pickup tube is installed correctly into the oil pump housing. Place a drop of blue Loctite on the threads and torque the fasteners to 106 in/lbs.
Step 3: Clean the new (or USED) oil pan thoroughly. We suggest removing the tray from the oil pan to thoroughly clean the pan and tray inside and out. After it has been thoroughly cleaned reinstall the tray making sure to place a drop of blue Loctite on the bolts. Torque the bolts to 106 in/lbs.
Step 4: Put a small amount of Permatex “Ultra Grey” sealant at the four places where the block and covers meet. Install the oil pan on the engine and start all of your fasteners. Torque the fasteners in order starting in the center and working your way out. Torque the shorter 8mm bolts to 18 ft/lbs and the longer 6mm bolts to 106 in/lbs.
