2003 Mazda Truck MPV V6-3.0L DOHC Ignition Coil Service

Vehicle Level Powertrain Management Ignition System Ignition Coil Service and Repair IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. LH: Remove the plug hole plate. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). RH: Remove the dynamic chamber. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). 3. Remove in the order indicated below. 1. Connector 2. Ignition coil 4. Install in the reverse order of removal. Apply a light film of silicon brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the interior of the spark plug boot prior to installation.

Intake-Air System Removal/Installation
When the engine and intake-air system are hot, they can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the intake-air system. Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel. Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious Injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedure". (See BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE.)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove in the order indicated below. 1. Air cleaner 2. Air cleaner element 3. Fresh-air duct (See Fresh-air Duct Removal Note) 4. Resonance chamber (See Resonance Chamber Removal Note) 5. Mass air flow sensor 6. Air hose 7. Accelerator cable bracket 8. IMCC actuator.
