2008 Best Value: Volkswagen Tiguan & Golf Estate
Gold for Volkswagen is the result in this year's vote for car with the most stable value in 2008. The automobile magazine Auto Bild made a comparison and came to a clear decision: the Tiguan 2.0 TDI wins in the compact SUV category and the Golf Estate 1.9 TDI put the competition in the compact class in its place.

To make a point: popular cars have stable values and cars with stable values are popular. That's why Volkswagen won two first places and one second. According to Auto Bild, the Tiguan will loose only 34 per cent of its value after three years. The benchmark in the compact SUV class. The Golf Estate 1.9 TDI also demonstrates an excellent value: the residual value is 64.5 per cent. The Passat Estate 1.9 TDI earned a respectable second place in the middle class with 64 per cent residual value.

From subcompact to sports coupe, from luxury saloon to SUV - 42 cars from 16 brands competed with each other. The "value champion" title has been awarded for the fifth time by Auto Bild and is based on the so-called residual value prognosis, the result of extensive research and calculations. In the process, a number of factors which play a role in determining the future value of a car are considered. Consequently, the pedigree, among other factors, plays a decisive role. Which were the predecessors and how did they develop in the buyers' favour and price structure?
