67-69 Chevy Camaro Install of the Mini Tub Sheet Metal Installation Instructions

A 2 inch wider rear wheel well can be accomplished by using the inner half of a replacement inner wheel well and following these directions. It would be advantages to have somebody with auto body skills (I have very few but I succeeded) to assist with this project.
The car will have to be on jack stands or a hoist to be able to get in and under the car. Remove all of the rear suspension, shocks, rear brake lines, fuel tank and fuel lines. There will be a lot of cutting and grinding sparks. Remove the rear seat, floor and trunk carpeting and the deck lid. Our car had Dynamat installed, it is a great insulation and sound deadener but dreadful to remove and even worse to weld near. Remove as much of the undercoating from inside wheel wells and around the tub area in the trunk to facilitate marking, cutting and welding.
The first step is to take depth measurements of the existing tub in relationship to the outer fender. Place strips of masking tape on the edge of the fender. Using a tape measure, measure horizontally the distance from flat area of the inner fender well to the edge of the fender where the tape is, mark a reference point on the masking tape and record that measurement on the tape for future reference when installing the new inner tub. Do this 4 or more times as illustrated on the left hand picture.
The support bracket that is spot welded to the trunk hinge/spring mechanism and the inner tub will have to be removed by drilling out the spot welds and saved for reuse. This is accomplished by lightly sanding the flanges on the bracket and looking for the spot weld indents then drilling out the holes. I center punched the welds then used a ¼ inch drill in the trunk area and then used a ½ inch bit from underneath in the wheel well to finish. The rear seat frame will have to be cut as pictured and after the tub is removed the bracket will be removed (drill spot welds) and used on the new tub.
