Installation of the 3G VIM can be made at any fiber optic location inside of the vehicle. Easiest locations would be behind the DVD player in the dash, or in either rear side quarter of the vehicle where the multimedia equipment is located. At either location a good ground connection and a continuous power connection is required. All connections need to be soldered.
Behind the radio:
1. If the installation is performed behind the DVD player/radio, you will need to remove the radio using a pair of Euro radio removal tools.
2. Insert the tools into the 2 horizontal slots on the front of the radio.
3. Gently push the tools in the opposite directions, approx. ΕΎ”. While still applying pressure and pull the radio straight out.
4. Remove the fiber optic cable and make the connections. (See the fiber optic integration diagram on the following page) Plug the fiber optics back into the stock equipment and the 3G VIM.
5. Connect the black wire from the 3GVIM to a solid chassis ground and the red wire to 12 volt constant. The blue wire is not used.
Rear of vehicle: (fastest installation)
1. If the installation is performed in the rear of the vehicle you will need to find the multimedia equipment, i.e. satellite radio, amplifier, etc. which are located behind an access panel on either side of the rear (trunk) of the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the fiber optic line to one of the optical sources.
3. Remove the fiber optic cable and make the connections. (See the fiber optic integration diagram on this page) Plug the fiber optics back into the stock equipment and the 3G VIM.
4. Connect the black wire from the 3GVIM to a solid chassis ground and the red wire to 12 volt constant. The blue wire is not used.
