1995 Audi 90 2.8L V6 - 12-Valve Manufactured Suggested Scheduled Maintenance

12:46 AM by onesecond ·
For 1997-98 model vehicles, manufacturer recommends belt be replaced at 90,00 miles. For 1996 and earlier
model years, the manufacturer does not recommend a specific scheduled maintenance interval. However, belt
manufacturers suggest the belt be replaced at 60,000 mile intervals.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
CAUTION: This application is an interference engine. Do not rotate camshaft or crankshaft when timing belt is removed, or engine damage may occur.

TIMING BELT
Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove accessory drive belt guard. Hold accessory drive belt in place with Mandrel (3204). Using a 15-mm wrench at accessory drive belt tensioner, slacken and remove accessory drive belt.
2. Rotate crankshaft by hand until cylinder No. 3 is at TDC. Ensure notch "A" is aligned with notch "B". See Fig. 1 . Note locating plate on front end of each camshaft sprocket. If large hole in each plate does not face inward, toward center of engine, rotate crankshaft one revolution.
3. Remove Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor from left side of cylinder block, behind oil filter and above oil pan. Insert finger in CKP sensor hole. TDC hole in crankshaft should be felt. Install Crankshaft Holding Tool (Audi 3242) in CKP sensor hole. See Fig. 2 . Lightly tighten crankshaft holder.
4. Remove crankshaft vibration damper. Remove lower timing belt guard. Install Camshaft Holding Tool (Audi 3243). See Fig. 3 . Loosen camshaft sprocket bolts about 3 turns. DO NOT remove bolts. Remove camshaft holder. Using puller, loosen camshaft sprockets. Loosen and remove timing belt. See Fig. 4.
CAUTION: Before removal, mark an arrow indicating direction of rotation on accessory drive belt or timing belt. Damage may result if belts are installed in opposite direction of rotation.
NOTE: Camshaft sprockets must be loose enough to rotate on camshaft, but not loose enough to tilt.
