Subaru Impreza Hatchback PN-140325 Exhaust System Installation

Borla Performance Cat-Back™ Exhaust System (Part Number 140325) has been designed for the Subaru Impreza Hatchback equipped with a 2.5L opposed 4 cylinder engine (non-turbo), all-wheel drive and automatic or manual transmissions.

1. Using the original hardware, place the front pipe assembly into position supporting it with a stand at the open end. Hand tighten the hardware for now. (See figure 3)
2. Place a clamp over the expanded end of the Intermediate Pipe assembly and set it into open end of the front pipe. Install the hanger into the rubber isolator. Do Not tighten the clamp.
3. Place a clamp over the expanded end of Rear muffler assembly and set it into position making sure to install the hangers into the rubber isolators. Do Not tighten the clamps. (See figure 4)
4. Check your exhaust system for proper clearance under the vehicle and also for tip alignment.
5. Once position has been determined to be correct, tighten the Accuseal™ clamp to 32-35 ft. lbs. making sure the clamps openings are not over any of the notches in the pipes. Tighten the flange hardware to 18-22 ft. lbs. (See figure 5)
6. Before starting your vehicle, make sure to check all wires, hoses, brake lines, body parts and tires for safe clearance from the exhaust system. (See figure 6)
7. Start vehicle and check for any leaks. If any leaks are found, determine cause (such as loose hardware or incorrectly positioned clamp) and repair as necessary.
Note: When you first start your vehicle after the installation of your new Borla Performance Exhaust System, there may be some smoke and fumes coming from the system. This is a protective oil based coating used in the manufacturing of mandrel bent performance exhaust tubing. This is not a problem and will disappear within a very short period of time after the exhaust has reached normal operating temperatures.
