Engine Owner's Manual for LS Series Auto Conversions

Engine Mount
Engine mount is constructed of 4130 aircraft quality steel tubing and is powder coated for corrosion protection. Engine mount vibration isolators are made of aluminum cups capturing a rubber isolator. There are a total of eight (8) rubber isolators required. Replacement of rubber isolators can be obtained at your local auto parts store. Just ask for front motor mound isolators for 1955 Chevrolet. If your engine mount looks similar to the photo please note any space between the engine mount and the mounting points when you are test fitting and add AN washers if necessary to fill any gaps. The engine mount was designed to have a small amount of space in which to move around to achieve a good fit.
Lubrication
Avoid damage to your engine by only using only mineral type engine oil in your LS1. Synthetic oil is an extremely bad choice for auto engines used in airplanes that even occasionally use 100LL fuel since lead particles suspend in the oil and cause the oil to turn to sludge, making proper lubrication impossible. We generally recommend using Pennzoil HD 30 wt oil as we have had decades of good experience with it. In our experience, single viscosity oil maintains its properties better than multi-viscosity oils. As a courtesy and educational tool, we have attached an Owner’s Manual for the PSRU that is already mounted on your engine, so please take time to read up on the PSRU. In the event that you ever need to remove it from your engine you will know how by reading this manual. It also details lubrication requirements and maintenance recommendations, etc.
