1993-96 Chevrolet Beretta Baseplate BX1614 Installation Instructions

1. Read the General Instruction Sheet included with this baseplate.
2. The baseplate attaches to the engine mount braces under the car and to the bumper mounts using eight total bolts which are supplied with the baseplate.
3. Remove the headlight modules. The modules are attached with three screws at the top and back of the module. Remove the screws and pull the headlight forward to detach. Unplug the wiring.
4. Remove the plastic cowling and grill section above and behind the bumper. Remove the wiring from the cowling and set it aside.
5. One side at a time, remove the two bolts that hold the bumper mount to the car and install the support angles on top of the existing bumper mount. The leg of the angle with the two 1/2" holes should be to the inside of the car with the 1/2" holes down. Use the 8mm x 50mm bolts and lock washers provided. Place a 1" diameter spacer between the bumper mount and the support angle. Tighten the four bumper mount bolts securely. You may have to loosen the bolts and adjust the supports later, but these bolts need to be tight to keep the bumper from moving out of position.
6. Two beams support the engine and transaxle. Place a jack under each beam and apply enough pressure to hold the braces in place when the two front bolts on each beam are removed.
7. There is a plastic trim piece that is bolted to the front bottom edge of the frame. The rear mounts of the baseplate will need to come through this plastic. Hold the baseplate up under the car with the four holes in the rear mounts aligned with the front bolts of the two engine support beams. Mark the approximate position of the mounts on the plastic trim. The openings will need to be about 3/8" high and located so that the rear mounts will be positioned up against the bottom of the frame.
