What this unit actually does?
This unit helps you to switch on or off devices, control signals and so on…
How it works?
Unit has three single pole double throw relays with terminal-type connectors: one input and two outputs (normally-opened and normally-closed). By pressing programmed button on steering wheel or board monitor, corresponding relay will be triggered and as result your device will be switched on or off (or some signal controlled).
Is my car compatible with the iBus Relay Unit?
This device is designed for BMW cars which is equipped with iBus: e38 7-series, e39 5-series, e46 3-series, e53 x5-series.
Some examples?
Sure. For example you want to install DVD player in your BMW and want to watch movies on OEM screen. No problem! Connect your DVD player power trough first relay (or second, third, as you wish) in unit and now you can switch it’s power on or off from some board monitor button. After that connect video and audio input signals to TV module. Now you can watch DVD’s right on your OEM screen.
I want another example!
Ok! You have stealth installed radar detector and want to turn it on or off (or mute) at any time. You can easy do that using this iBus relay unit.
You can control anything! CarPCs, DVD players, radar detectors
… everything what can be controlled.
Which buttons I can use to control relays?
By default, unit is programmed to control relays using clock button, tape reverse button and phone button located on your board monitor. But before purchase you can ask to reprogram unit as you want. In most cases it is free. Self programming not available right now.

This manual will describe how to install unit in BMW e39/2001 5-series.
Better place to install this unit is trunk, near TV, navigation unit or CD changer. There you can find iBus wire, ground and 12v easy.
TV unit, navigation module and CD changer are connected to iBus. PDC is also connected to iBus, so you can install unit near PDC as well as near TV unit. Look at units harnesses, you should see white wire with gray line and yellow bands. This is iBus wire. Connect it to iBus pin of unit.
