2009 BMW K1300R/S Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust System

REMOVAL OF STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM:
1. Put the motorcycle on a side stand, we recommend a racing stand. Make sure, that surface is solid and flat.
2. Unscrew the bolts of the heat shield from the link pipe and remove the heat shield.
3. Unscrew the bolt from the metal clamp at the muffler - link pipe joint (Figure 3, 4). Unscrew the bolt from the muffler metal clamp and remove the muffler.
INSTALLATION OF THE AKRAPOVIC SLIP-ON EXHAUST SYSTEM:
1. Attach the press-on nut onto the link pipe heat shield bracket and collector heat shield bracket.
2. Position the muffler correctly and slide it onto the outlet side of the collector.
3. Align the muffler in respect to the motorcycle and tighten the muffler bracket onto the stock chassis hanging bracket using the stock bolt, washer and nut and tighten the metal clamp (Figure 10, 11, 12, 13, 14). Make sure that the muffler is centered with respect to the motorcycle before you tighten the muffler bracket and metal clamp’s bolts. Make sure the link pipe or muffler are not touching the frame and other parts of the motorcycle.
4. Correctly position and install stock aluminium or optional Akrapovic carbon-fiber heat shield - use the bolts, washer and spacers supplied in the Akrapovic kit.
Final installation:
1. Clean grease spots:
a. Muffler – titanium outer sleeve: use a soft cloth sprayed with a multi-purpose spray lubricant (WD-40 or equivalent).
b. Muffler – carbon-fiber outlet cap: use a soft dry cloth.
c. Titanium inlet cap and welded link pipe: use a soft cloth sprayed with a multi-purpose spray lubricant (WD-40 or equivalent). Cleaning will prevent spots from burning onto the surface. Do not use aggressive chemical cleaners, because they can damage the sticker. Position of the correctly installed Akrapovic SLIP-ON system.
