Ford 4.2L Intake Manifold and Timing Cover Gaskets

Ford 4.2L truck and van engines manufactured from 1997 to 2001 have had problems with coolant leaking into the engine oil and into the cylinders. A failed intake manifold gasket or a failed timing cover gasket may cause the coolant to leak into the oil, but coolant leaking into the cylinders is almost always caused by failure of the intake manifold gasket. These problems have been widely reported in several service bulletins over the years.

Resolution: CARQUEST gaskets offers two new replacement gaskets to solve these problems – a Victo-Tech® intake manifold gasket and a Performaseal® timing cover gasket. Both of these gaskets offer superior sealing and a long service life in this tough environment. CARQUEST gaskets recommends following the manufacturer’s instructions when installing the replacement gaskets.

Application: CARQUEST gaskets part number T31565, a timing cover gasket, is available for 1997 to 2004 Ford 4.2L engines. CARQUEST gaskets also offers three intake manifold gasket sets for the Ford 4.2L engine. Part number MS16233-3 is available for engines built between 1997 and January 14, 1998, part number MS16233-1 is available for engines built between January 15, 1998 and 1999, and part number MS16230 is available for engines built between 2000 and 2004. Consult the CARQUEST gaskets Catalog for information on replacement head bolts and other replacement gaskets for the Ford 4.2L engine.
