If the EVAP canister leaks (or has leaked) charcoal, it must be replaced. In addition to replacing the canister, the entire EVAP emission control system must be cleaned to remove charcoal particles released by the leaking canister. To clean the EVAP emission control system, use the service procedure starting on page 3.

TransTec rebuild kits for the Chrysler 41TE (A-604) now contain the low/ reverse piston housing. This housing is stamped steel and is susceptible to distortion, especially around the screw holes. Therefore, the housing should always be replaced during a rebuild. In fact, ATRA recommends using a new housing in their recent technical bulletin #231.

This article is intended to aid in diagnosing DTC’s P0171, P0174, P1130, P1131, P1150, P1151, P2195, or P2197 (system lean or lack of HEGO switches) when a vacuum leak is present. HEGO sensors, MAF sensors, and PCM replacements are not an effective repair when a vacuum leak is causing the above DTC’s.
ACTION
Perform the following inspections/repairs when the above codes are found in memory. Procedure provides instructions on how to make comparisons of the total fuel corrections (using scan tool or equivalent) at idle and high RPM’s to help determine if a vacuum leak is the root cause of the DTC’s.

After a number of years of engineering, Cadillac introduced air suspension on the 1957 Eldorado Brougham. For four years this option was offered, but since only 904 Broughams were built there were a very few equipped with air. In at least some years (if not all) from 1957 through 1960, Cadillac offered air suspension as a $215 option for both the Brougham and the non Brougham models. To do so, frames were built to accommodate both steel and air springs. Reports on these cars tell us that the system was quite remarkably smooth and comfortable (quite a complement considering Cadillac’s reputation for great ride) as long as they worked. The problem was that they were plagued with leaks. Leaks at fitting, and in controls, and anywhere else they could leak. They tended to freeze in the winter. You could lose air and drop the car without much warning. It was complicated and difficult to repair and maintain.

Keep adhesive surface free of dirt and grease. Only cut back adhesive surface shortly before installation. Do not prime or use a cleaning solution on the adhesive surface. Make sure there is a slight overlap at adhesive joining points, otherwise there may be leaks in these areas.
Bonded panel must be inserted in the vehicle within a maximum of 10 minutes after start of application, otherwise the bonding properties of adhesive sealant material will be impaired. Observe minimum curing times for bonded panel Minimum curing times for bonded sunroof panel.
