2002 Ford Taurus Water in the Blower Case

This article supersedes TSB 03-15-06 to update the vehicle model years and build date information.
ISSUE
Some vehicles built between 5/1/2001 and 12/15/2003 may exhibit water in the blower case or on the passenger side floor, an inoperative climate control blower motor, a motor that operates on high speed only, and/or a blower motor resistor
failure.

2005 Ford Taurus Engine Controls Vacuum Leakage Noise Possible DTC's

Some 2005 Taurus and Sable vehicles equipped with a 3.0L 2V and some 2003-
2005 Lincoln LS vehicles equipped with a 3.0L 4V engine may exhibit a vacuum
leakage noise or lean codes and/or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on. The
cause may be a leak at the 0-ring on the intake manifold tuning (IMT) valve.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

2000-2003 Ford Taurus Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve Diagnostics Service Tips

Some vehicles, may exhibit drivability conditions. These may include: • No start • Difficult to start • Stall • Low idle • Rough idle • High idle • Hesitation/surge while accelerating or at steady speed
These conditions may be intermittent with no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) and no Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). In some cases DTC and MIL may be evident.

1994 Ford Taurus Ignition Switch Removal Service and Repair

REMOVAL 1. Disconnect battery ground cable. 2. Remove four or five steering column shroud attaching screws, then the shroud. 3. Remove tilt lever, if equipped. 4. Remove instrument panel lower steering column cover. 5. Disconnect ignition switch electrical connector. 6. Place lock cylinder in RUN position, then remove two ignition switch attaching screws. 7. Disengage ignition switch from actuator pin.

2002 Ford Taurus V6-3.0L VIN U - A/C - Erratic/Inoperative Blower Case

Some vehicles built between 5/1/2001 and 12/15/2003 may exhibit water in the
blower case or on the passenger side floor, an inoperative climate control blower
motor, a motor that operates on high speed only, and/or a blower motor resistor
failure.
ACTION
Inspect and seal cowl area and install Rain-Hat Extension Seal. Inspect and
replace blower motor and/or blower motor resistor if there is evidence of
water/corrosion. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
